Zimbelman Construction supports efforts to reduce energy costs, and minimize environmental impact, by using green building practices. We do not believe green building practices should be mandated through building codes, or regulated by government agencies. We do believe the choice to use various aspects of green building remain solely with the client, and their decisions to incorporate green items into their building projects should be based on an evaluation of each "green approach" as to whether it adds value to the project, the added cost of that "green approach" and the ability to get a return on their initial investment in the future.
As we reviewed NAHB's green building guidelines, we discovered many of the recommended green building recommendations are already considered standard building practices in our new homes. We are currently assessing the added costs to achieve Bronze, Silver and Gold certifications in the green building program.
